Extinction Status in 2023:

Today, true global coordination to determine the real extinction risk priorities, is completely nonexistent.   No two governments are working together today to prevent human extinction.

Surprisingly, despite all the talk talk talk about extinction, there is absolutely no authentic coordination or funding at any level adequate to take humanity’s next step.  That next step is to prioritize mitigation that tells us, “What is most important to do now?”

The movement of extinction philosophy has been amply funded to exist with grant money. It has already long since fulfilled all of its original aims. It is increasingly likely that extinction philosophy is now obsolete since it is no longer needed. It should be defunded. The cocoon may now be discarded since the butterfly has already emerged.

There is little advancement to be added or researched for pure knowledge other than rehashing the existing philosophies and the same old dire threats.

A vast and daunting number of extinction risk scenarios have been imagined, documented and repeated and repeated.  Solving any one of them could require a significant diversion of humanity's total available resources.  Solutions would also require international coordination: intergovernmental cooperation at the highest levels that has never ever before existed, and that may not ever be able to exist.
